Bulk SMS is one of the most dependable ways to reach people, but it is important to set realistic expectations. Once a message leaves the platform it passes through systems that no SMS provider fully controls. Delivery depends on mobile networks, approved sender IDs, message content, routing, and destination handset availability, so uninterrupted or error-free delivery cannot be guaranteed.

What can restrict delivery

• Mobile networks: operator congestion, maintenance, filtering, or outages can delay or block messages beyond our control.
• Approved sender IDs: messages sent with an unregistered, misleading, or restricted sender name may be filtered or rejected by the network.
• Message content: content flagged as spam, prohibited, or fraudulent, or containing blocked links, can be throttled or dropped by operator filters.
• Routing: the path a message takes between systems and operators can affect speed and success, especially at peak times.
• Destination handset availability: if the recipient is switched off, out of coverage, has a full inbox, uses an invalid or ported number, or is roaming, the message may be delayed or never delivered.

Why no provider can guarantee 100% delivery

The final delivery step happens on infrastructure owned by mobile operators and on the recipient's own device. Even a perfectly formatted message to a valid number can fail if the handset is unreachable or the network drops it. • No illegal, abusive, or prohibited content as defined by law and network policies.
• Sender IDs and content must comply with operator and regulatory requirements.

How to maximise your delivery

• Use a registered, approved sender ID that matches your business.
• Keep numbers in the correct 255XXXXXXXXX format and remove invalid entries.
• Write clear, non-spammy content and limit links to one trusted domain.
• Send at reasonable hours and review delivery reports to prune numbers that repeatedly fail.
